Dewmith – a TT champion in the making
Dewmith Weerasena, a Grade Two student of Lyceum International
School, Nugegoda is an up and coming player in the Table Tennis field
whose talents will have to be sharpened in the years to come.

He is a keen player who has won several championship awards, winning
the All Island TT Championship Under-8 category conducted by the St
Joseph’s TT Player Parents Association, Kegalle, held last month.
He was the semifinalist of the All Island Novices TT Championship
conducted by the Wellawatte Sports Club in April 2010 and was the
runner-up in the Under-8 Singles category Western Province Junior
Ranking TT Championship held in February 2010.
He participated in the All Island Intermediate Novices Table Tennis
Championships conducted by the Premadasa Sports Club on June 5 and 6 at
S Thomas’ Indoor Stadium, Mt Lavinia and was the champion in the Under-8
Singles category and Quarter-Finalist in the Under-10 Singles category.
In his journey towards a brilliant sports career this achievement is
another feather in his cap.
He is being trained by Indika Prasad, the National Player who is the
TT Coach whose dedication and devotion to the game had helped many a
student to achieve their goals. |
