Special SLCTB Poson bus service

The Sri Lanka Central Transport Board yesterday announced a special bus service from Colombo to Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Kandy, Somawathiya from tomorrow for the benefit of devotees.

SLCTB Chairman H.D. Bandusena said the SLCTB would target Poson devotees who observe sil at the Anuradhapura and Mihintale sacred areas.

He said this bus service would operate from the Central Bus stand in Pettah to Anuradhapura, Kandy, Mihintale and the Somawathiya Sacred areas from June 23 to 24. Bandusena said that the Board is prepared to deploy buses depending on the demand of passengers.

He added that over 35 buses and 12 double deckers are in operation from Mihintale to Anuradhapura during this week and more buses would be deployed if the number of passengers are on the increase.

“We expected an unprecedented crowd in Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Somawathiya and several other places during this Poson season and are prepared to meet any situation,” he added. This special bus service from Colombo is available from June 24 to 25 midnight.

Bandusena added that the special bus service would be launched from the Trincomalee Railway station to Seruwawila Mangala Rajamaha Viharaya this time. The SLCTB Chairman has already planned to deploy a large number of buses from June 26 to facilitate the return of passengers to their homes.
