President launches Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi film festival

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will today launch the May 2011 International Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi film festival to mark the 2600th anniversary of the Buddha’s enlightenment.

Buddhist clergy from Sri Lanka and other countries will be among those participating at this launch which will be held at the Presidential Secretariat.

Among the foreign delegates is Basantha Bidari an internationally reputed authority on Lumbini, the birth place of Prince Siddartha and who is in charge of Lumbini and will provide expert guidance to film festival organizers.
