Dilshan pilots Lanka to a 126 run win

Tillekeratne Dilshan starred with bat and ball as Sri Lanka cruised to a convincing 126 run victory over Bangladesh in their Asia Cup limited overs cricket tournament match worked off under lights at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium yesterday. After having posted 312 for 4 the highest ever total at this venue, Sri Lanka the defending champions then put up a pleasing performance on the field to restrict Bangladesh to 186 runs in the 41st over.

Serbia stun 10-man Germany

Serbia stunned Germany 1-0 here on Friday in a pulsating World Cup tie marked by a cluster of yellow cards, Miroslav Klose’s sending off and Germany’s Lukas Podolski missing a second-half penalty. Milan Jovanovic’s first half goal gave Serbia victory to throw Group D wide open with Radomir Antic’s side joining Germany and Ghana - who play pointless Australia on Saturday - with three points.

Isipatana College, Colombo met unexpected challenge from Dharmaraja College before they squeezed through to a 19 points (1 goal, 4 penalties) to 17 (1 goal, 2 tries) win in their schools Under-19 Division One Segment ‘A’ rugby tournament match played at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy yesterday.
