Police hold Navy to a 13-all draw

Sri Lanka Police Sports Club came out with their best effort for the season to hold a strong Sri Lanka Navy outfit to an exciting 13 all draw in their Caltex inter club ‘A’ division league rugby tournament match worked off at the Police Park in Bambalapitiya yesterday.

New Zealand edge out Sri Lanka

New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 28 runs in the first of two Twenty20 matches on Saturday as international cricket made an historic attempt to break into the American market. However, the format’s reputation as a carnival of brutal power-hitting suffered on a slow, lifeless pitch at the 20,000-capacity Central Broward Regional Park Stadium at Lauderhill.

Bolt dominates as Shanghai cheers on Liu

World and Olympic triple gold medallist Usain Bolt launched his IAAF Diamond League campaign in Shanghai on Sunday with a comfortable 200m win in 19.76 seconds. Bolt, who holds the world record of 19.19, was the only man to break the 20-second barrier, with American Angelo Taylor second in 20.34 followed by American Ryan Bailey in 20.43. “It was a good run, the feeling was good but it was not easy. I am not in the best shape but enjoyed it,” Bolt said. “I look forward to the next race.”
