Junior Chess champions

Inter-schools chess Tournament of Southern Province, organised by the Chess Association of Labuduwa, Siri Dhamma Vidyalaya, Galle was held recently. With over 350 children participating under 11 and under 13 (Girls) championships was won by Southland Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Galle, while the 9 (Girls) championship was won by Sangamitta Balika Maha Vidyalaya Galle.

Under 9 (Boys) champions was Maha Maya Vidyalaya, Hikkaduwa, while the under 11 (Boys) Champions were Mahinda College, Galle. Richmond college, Galle won the under 13 boys’ title.

Champion: Sashi Isira (Maha Maya Vidyalaya, Hikkaduwa), 1st Runner-up: Ransindu Anjana (Mahinda College, Galle), 2nd Runner-up: Winuwara Talith (Mahinda College, Galle)

Under 9 (Girls) -

Champion: R.M.Sandadini Bandara (Sangamitta BMV, Galle), 1st Runner-up: A.B.Buddhagani Atukorala (Sangamitta BMV, Galle), 2nd Runner-up: Dharsha Prasadini Wijesinghe (Sangamitta BMV, Galle)

Champion: Ravindu Hansika Welihinda (Mahinda College. Galle), 1st Runner-up: Wenura Indula Seneviratne (Mahinda College, Galle), 2nd Runner-up: Tamindu Prabasha Ratnayake (Mahinda College, Galle)

Under 11 (Girls)

Champion: Kithpara Thejanganie Kumari (Southlands BMV, Galle), 1st Runner-up: Lithmi Mindula Abeykoon (Southlands BMV, Galle), 2nd Runner-up: K.A. Sobashi Semindi (Southlands BMV, Galle)
