New CPC Ministers, members sworn in today
Newly appointed Ministers and Members of the Central provincial
council are due to be sworn in before Central Province Governor Tikiri
Kobbekaduwa at the Governor’s Office Kandy at 2.00 p.m. today. Anusha
Shivarasha has been appointed to the vacant provincial council
membership created as a result of V. Radhachrishnan being elected as a
Nuwara Eliya District Member of the Parliament representing the UPFA.
Accordingly, she holds the portfolio of Industries, Sports, Tamil
Education, Land Infrastructure Facilities, Women’s Affairs, Rural
Development Hindu Culture and Youth Affairs. She becomes the first woman
representing plantation community being elected to a provincial council
Ministry, since the establishment of the Provincial Council system in
Sri Lanka in 1988.
Former Provincial Council Minister Nimal Piyatissa, who resigned to
contest the General Election has been reappointed to the Portfolio of
Agriculture, Irrigation, Animal Products, Agrarian Services Fisheries
and Environmental Affairs. Attorney-at-Law Sunil Kithsiri Amaratunge has
been appointed as the new Provincial Council Minister of Health,
Indigenous Medicine Social Welfare Probation and Child Care. |
