Muslim College to redress illiteracy

A Muslim Women's Arabic College has been established in Polonnaruwa to uplift and educate Muslim Women, specially in religious affairs as most of them were found illiterate at present.

A generous social minded group under the guidance of senior attorney-at-law A L Thaha Najimu-deen pioneered the College to cater the Muslim Community towards educating them specially in religion.

The Muslim population in the area who had been victimized due to terrorism for decades have been left unattended in every aspect of life during the past.

Now, the country is relieved from the clutches of the LTTE and a new era has dawned under the able leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and life has returned to normalcy in all aspects.

According to president Thaha Najimudeen, the college is intended to serve the women of Muslim communities to provide proper and necessary education with an aim of making them to face the present challenges confronted in the society. The president also said that hostel facilities are also provided to them with meals.

The college authorities now appeal to Muslims in Polonnaruwa to admit their children at this Arabic College by contacting 027-2226276 or bringing the children to 44, Manikampitty Road, Kaduruwela at anytime.
