Delays in law procedures will end - Justice Minister

Justice Minister Athauda Seneviratna said he will take all steps to end delays and other problems in the field of justice.

The Minister said this during a meeting with USA Ambassador in Sri Lanka Patricia Butenis at the Justice Ministry last week.

The Minister added every effort will be made to restore law and order in the Northern and Eastern Provinces. Since terrorism has been eradicated, what is now required is to maintain peace and order in the country.

Making changes in the field of law is urgent and the international community's support is vital for this purpose. In effecting development the law too has to be strengthened, the Minister added. The Ambassador said America will extend assistance to improve the judicial activities, specially for the provision of legal assistance to the needy community.
