Japanese assistance continues

The Japanese Government had assisted the Sri Lanka’s IDP resettlement
effort during the last year in various fields and would continue to
support in the future, Japanese Ambassador Kunio Takahashi said
yesterday.
Ambassador Takahashi met new Resettlement Minister Milroy Fernando at
his Ministry yesterday and pledged support to resettlement of IDPs.
The Japanese Government had provided financial assistance through
international organizations and NGOs for food assistance, de - mining,
water supply and drainage, agriculture, he said. Commending the
Government’s efforts to resettle the IDPs, the Ambassador said the new
Minister has a capability to build harmony among ethnic groups. |
