‘The Chartered Marketer’
Review by Prasanna Perera
Reading through the latest issue of The Chartered Marketer, I was
delighted to observe that several topics of relevance to modern markets
were addressed, such as ‘Advertising Effect’, ‘Sensory Marketing’ and
‘Marketing Today is About Getting Found.’ Another interesting article
was one which related to Political Marketing and how marketeers could
learn valuable lessons from politicians. This is very true indeed.
Politicians amply demonstrate concepts such as brand positioning, single
minded proposition, integrated marketing communications and publicity.

In my opinion, this publication fills a great void in Sri Lanka i.e.
the lack of a quality magazine for practising marketeers and students
with a Sri Lankan flavour. Many industries of importance to Sri Lanka
were covered, such as hospitality, financial services and logistics.
The editor’s message is also truly relevant. A call to marketeers to
commit themselves to continuous professional development (CPD) and
attain the ‘Chartered Marketeer’ status. A further incentive is the
listing of all Chartered Marketeers in Sri Lanka.
A few thoughts for improvement: a review of marketing and business
books and CDs/DVDs would be ideal. Further, snippets / nuggets for
marketeers on practice would also be a great value addition. A quarterly
publication would also be most welcome.
All in all, an excellent publication from the CIM - Sri Lanka Region. |
