Ban Ki-Moon warns about Nuke threat
UN: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon warned that the world is under a
real nuclear threat and made a call to work on the elimination of all
nuclear weapons.
Even after 65 years of the first atomic bomb attack over Hiroshima
world is still under the shadow of nuclear danger, Moon said.
Ban Ki-Moon questioned how long will it take to get rid of the nuke
risk at the 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the
Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
He pointed out that the NPT is the most important multilateral
agreement on history, although is not perfect, and constitutes the
cornerstone of the non-proliferation regime and has an almost universal
membership.
UN Secretary General warned about the new and varied forms of threats
in this area, among them he mentioned terrorism, the black market of
technology and material of that class and the risk of regional conflict
