Fleeing suspect netted

Bandarawela Police arrested a fleeing suspect after a theft of Rs 0.5 million and reclaimed the money thanks to police officers immediate action.

Police spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that the suspect allegedly had snatched Rs 0.5 million from a person who brought them to deposit at a private bank at Bandarawela. He fled riding a motor bike.

Taking immediate action on information received by the Haliela road block, police officers chased the thief and arrested him. The Police could seize Rs 499,700 from the possession of the suspect.
