Malinda’s The Morning Inspection
A reply
Apart from a comment on the Vaddukoddai resolution, I have no desire
to engage with Malinda either on political issues or on vapid inanities
such as complimentary vs. complementary.
Malinda says that, “There is nothing wrong in promising Eelam or
something close to it.” I am on record that I disagree on this matter.
Having consistently and, in the 70s courageously, resisted endorsing
Eelam, the Tamil leaders caved into the LTTE pressure at Vaddukoddai.
That was a disaster and several of them acknowledged it soon after that
resolution was passed. A few of them paid for that disaster with their
lives - the LTTE was unwilling to excuse those who went back on that
resolution.
Malinda makes several false statements including the reference to a
conversation in 2003 or 2004 that I never had with him. I retired from
the public service in April 1995 and have always been transparent in
publicly expressing my political views ever since. This is borne out in
numerous publications. I have always held that secession was neither
possible nor desirable and, further, that was the position of the
majority of the Tamil people. If Malinda or the Editor/CDN is
interested, I can dig out several of those publications for
republishing.
