Trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange saw the All Share Price Index
reaching its highest ever recorded point of 3,870.3 yesterday moving up
by 88.4 points (2.3 percent) as against the previous day.
The Milanka Price Index reached its highest ever point of 4441.1
points, moving up by 92.1 points (2.1 percent) as against the previous
day, CSE Business Development Manager Thushara Jayaratne told Daily News
Business.
At the end of trading yesterday market capitalization (total value)
stood at Rs 1258.9 billion, the highest ever market capitalization
recorded at the CSE.
The total turnover for today was at Rs 1.255 billion to which mostly
banks and some of the blue chip companies have contributed.
Apart from that the hotel sector shares and even plantation sector
shares went up.
There were marginal losses in some sectors while most of the sectors
gained highest shares, Capital Trust Securities Director Sarath
Rajapakse told Daily News Business.
Rajapakse said it is expected that there will be more trading today.
A strong Government is anticipated by market participants.
“Out of the Milanka Price Index companies Aiken Spence, JKH, HNB,
Commercial Bank, Seylan bank, NDB, DFCC and several other companies had
the highest number of trading yesterday,” he said. “It is expected that
the month of April will perform tremendously well to reach the turnover
of 4200 barrier on the All Share Index. Among the 230 All Share Index
companies, about 130 actively traded yesterday,” he said.
