Venezuela, Belarus to produce gas
Venezeula: Venezuela and Belarus agreed on Wednesday to
jointly explore gas fields in the state of Anzoátegui, in the northern
part of the country, as a way to increase the bilateral cooperation.
A joint venture will work in three gas fields with an initial
production of 40 million cubic feet daily to reach 200 million per day
in 2012,that represents the fourth part of Belarus current consumption.
During Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko´s visit to Venezuela,
the Head of State Hugo Chávez described the meeting as very positive.
Chavez pointed out at Miraflores Presidential palace, that his
country will invest 600 million dollars. Venezuelan Gas Corporation
President Eulogio del Pino explained that these gas fields were
abandoned when the oil production decreased.
This project will enable Venezuela to gain the fourth place in the
world due to the amount of gas deposits after Russia, Qatar and Iran.
