Basnahira North powered by three superb half centuries from opener
Dilshan Munaweera, Gayan Wijekoon and Muthumudalige Pushpakumara went on
a scoring spree as they piled up a huge 380 for 6 in their first innings
on the opening day of their Bank of Ceylon Inter Provincial 4 day
cricket tournament match against MAS Kandurata which commenced at the
Moors SC ground in Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Wayamba well set

Wayamba look set to snatch first innings points after they had
bundled out Basnahira South for 120 runs in their first innings on the
opening day of their Bank of Ceylon Inter Provincial cricket tournament
match which commenced at the Pallekelle Stadium in Kandy yesterday.
The pace-spin combination of Chanaka Welagedera and Rangana Herath
played havoc with the Basnahira South batting while sharing seven
wickets between them.
Opener Yohan de Silva and wicket keeper batsman Prasanna Jayawardena
were the only batsmen to make any significant contributions for
Basnahira South.
Wayamba in reply lost wickets at regular intervals but were rescued
by a fighting half century from opener Michael van Dort who struck 63
from 72 balls with the help of one six and eight boundaries.
The two seamers Chinthaka Perera and Janaka Gunaratne caused the
damage with some hostile bowling.
Basnahira South: 120 (Y. de Silva 26, P. Jayawardena 21, C.
Welagedera 4 for 37, R. Herath 3 for 12).
Wayamba: 120 for 5 (M. van Dort 63, J. Gunaratne 2 for 18, C. Perera
3 for 19).
