Infas and Hansi best athletes

International schools athletic championships:

There were 130 events worked out at the International schools athletic championships in which over 3000 boys and girls of 22 International Schools competed.

The competitions were fast and fierce and Lyceum Wattala (955points) won the championship for the second year in a row managing to beat Gateway College (936 points) by 14 points with the last few relays.

Lyceum Nugegoda came in third with 461 points and Royal Institute in fourth place with 328 points. CIS came in fifth with 303 points.

Lyceum Wattala who won almost all the relays also won the special award for the Overall relay championships.

Lyceum, Wattala won the overall Age group Championships for Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15. Gateway College won the Overall Championships for the Under 17 and Under 19 age groups.

The special championships awards:

Under 9 girls champion – Abinaya Rajasekaran (Asian International School)

Under 9 boys champion – Thuthimal Madugalle (CIS, Kandy)

Under 11 girls champion – Rebecca Silva (Lyceum, Wattala)

Under 11 boys champion – Rahel Kumaratunga (CIS)

Under 13 girls champion – Tharushi Sooriyarachchi (Lyceum, Nugegoda)

Under 13 boys champion – Thaher Akbarally (Asian International School)

Under 15 girls champion – Trazy Ranasinghe (OKI International)

Under 15 boys champion – Tharaka Dananjaya Perera (Lyceum, Wattala)

Under 17 girls champions – Hansi Ekanayake and Nirma Sandaratne (Lyceum, Wattala)

Under 17 boys champion – Sanjuna Sumanaweera (Royal Institute)

Under 19 Girls champions – K. Chamatka Kavindra and Nadeeshani H. Henderson (Gateway College)Under 19 boys champion – Lakshan Polkotuwa (Lyceum, Wattala)

Under 20 girls champion – Udara Ratnayake (Gateway College)

Under 20 boys champions – Raminda Silva and Dihan Rajinda (Lyceum, Wattala) and Ashan Fernando (Gateway College)

Best female athlete - Hansi Ekanayake (Lyceum, Wattala)

Best male athlete - Infas Nawaz (Leeds International School)
