Country geared for development drive
The country is geared towards an accelerated development drive after
the end of the terrorist paving the way for increased employment
opportunities, Tourism Minister Achala Jagoda said.

The Minister said development is especially evident in the tourism
sector and the influx of new jobs in all fields of activities can never
be stalled by anyone today.
Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of the first stage of
Hotel Management Training Diploma course at the Youth Empowerment Centre
of National Youth Services Council, Panadura on Monday. The Minister
said the tourism industry had shown a 47 percent growth this year after
the end of terrorism. He added that Sri Lanka had become one of the
powerful and peaceful countries.
In all parts of the world, violent and terrorist activities can be
seen, he said.
However, the President has unified this country after defeating the
terrorism. This unique victory achieved by the President will be further
strengthened by another victory on April 8, he said.
Sri Lanka is a country with places of attractions to foreigners.
The country has historical places, fine beaches and a place called
Elephant Pass where anyone can watch the rising and setting sun from one
point, the Minister said.
