Medicare 2010 a success
Medicare 2010, the National healthcare exhibition, was held at the
BMICH from March 5 to 7. The chief guest of the event was Western
Province Governor Alavi Moulana and the guests of honour were Petroleum
Minister A.H.M.Fowzie, Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister - Western
Province Jagath Angage, UNICEF Country Representative Phillipe Duamelle,
Former Health Minister Siva Obeysekera and SAITM Chairman Dr. Neville
Fernando.

The Founder Secretary of the Private Health Services Regulatory
Council, Western Province Health Department Head and Medicare 2010
Organizing Committee Chairman Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva said that Sri
Lanka has advanced tremendously in healthcare and at present many latest
medical technologies in treatment is available for Sri Lankans. Top
healthcare providers showcased various medical advances for the
profession and the public.
Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana requested the doctors to
spend more time with patients at consultations.
UNICEF Country Representative Phillipe Dumelle said that Sri Lanka
has done comparatively well in healthcare. He stressed the need for
further improvements in child nutrition.
Western Province Health Minister Jagath Angage stressed the need for
a rapid development since the country has come out of terrorism which
plagued Sri Lanka for the past 30 years.
A popular seminar program was held by top medical specialists for the
profession as well as for the public.
Many current health issues were discussed providing answers to common
public questions.
All medical associations, colleges, top hospitals, Government
Regulatory Bodies, medical laboratories, medical equipment suppliers and
pharmaceutical companies participated at the Medicare 2010 exhibition.
