Over 1,000 A’pura JVP, UNP supporters join UPFA

An exodus of UNP and JVP stalwarts and supporters are seeking UPFA membership in the Anuradhapura district.

A group of 700 UNP supporters joined the UPFA recently.

They received the UPFA membership from Petroleum Resources Minister Duminda Dissanayake. All are residents in Wadigawewa, Horowpothana.

Wadigawewa village UNP branch former President D. Munidasa said they had been traditional UNP activists. The party hierarchy including the leadership is weak, he said. Munidasa said President Mahinda Rajapaksa is trustworthy fearless and has a broad national development vision and hence they were rallying round the President and the UPFA.

Meanwhile a large number of youth attached to the Kebithigollewa town UNP youth’s Board of Authority along with 300 UNP and JVP activists and supporters joined the UPFA in Indigenous Medicine Minister Tissa Karalliyadda’s presence.
