Help kidney patient

M.K. Vernan Ronald Rodrigo, 49, with end state kidney failure has been recommended a kidney transplant.

The expenses for anti-rejection therapy, custodial solution and investigations have to be borne by the patient and the cost will be around Rs 400,000.

Kantha Diriya in Beruwela

A felicitation ceremony titled Kantha Diriya to mark International Women’s Day will be held at Ariyawanse Maha Vidyalaya Hall, Beruwala today at 9.00 a.m. Construction and Engineering Services Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne will preside.


Prefects Day

Minuwangoda President’s College Prefects day will be held on March 14 from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm at the school.

Students of 25 schools will participate. Two lectures will be held.


ASPS seminar

The Association of Secretarial Practice Students (ASPS) of Sri Lanka College of Technology will hold their annual seminar on Thursday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Electronic Imaging and Printing Technology Room of the College, on the theme “How should secretaries face challenges of a changing environment”.


Big Match revellers warned

The Education Ministry has instructed all Police Stations to take legal action against students who behave in an unruly manner thus causing an inconvenience to the public coming to watch the school Big Matches.

The Education Ministry stated that it has received a large number of complaints from the public that the unruly behaviour of some students coming to watch Big Matches causes a great hindrance to pedestrians and fellow spectators. The Ministry has instructed the students to restrict their Big Match revelry only to the cricket grounds.

Three drown in tank

Three persons were drowned in Ibbankatuwa Wewa (tank) in Dambulla Saturday while bathing in it. Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that the three were identified as S.A. Saddamangala Samarasinghe (39) of Attanagalla Road, Pasyala, L.A. Ratnasiri (35) of Dompe, Pugoda and B.A.S. Prabath Balasooriya (22) of Germanwatta, Pepiliyawala.

They had been on their way to Sigiriya from Colombo and had stopped for a bath when they met with the accident.
