Student ends life in abandoned house

A 13-year-old student of a leading school in Welimada committed suicide by hanging himself in an abandoned house near his residence on Wednesday evening.

Welimada Police told the Daily News that they are following several clues to establish why the student committed suicide.

It has been reported that the student who committed suicide at Divithotawela has been entangled in a problem in school.

The child's mother said the boy returned from school at around 5.30 p.m. and his face was pale.

"My son looked tired and his face was pale."

She has asked why his legs were wounded and the boy had replied that he fell from the school parapet wall.

The body was sent to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital for post mortem examination.
