Safeguarding Motherland, priority

Posts and Telecommunications Minister and UPFA Kalutara District Candidate Nandana Gunatilleke said he has never been reluctant to safeguard the interests of the Motherland whenever it was threatened by various conspiracies.

When the JVP decided to end its co-operation with President Mahinda Rajapaksa he left the party to safeguard the country by assisting the President.

Addressing a UPFA rally at Baduraliya, Kalutara Gunatilleke said when the country was facing a crisis due to the war certain individuals misinterpreted the problem to the international community to seek personal gain.

He on his part decided to strengthen the hands of the President who came before the people in 2005 promising to put an end to the conflict.

Although the JVP was a people friendly party, it had now been ruined by certain individuals who have taken over its leadership.

Gunatilleke said he received 135,000 preferential votes from the people of Kalutara district at the previous general election. He had served the people to the best of his ability during the last 10 years as a Parliamentarian. He had now come before the people to seek their mandate once again to continue his services to them.
