Prosperous country through women’s contribution - PM
The country’s future will be prosperous if the contribution of women
who are more than 50 percent of the population is used productively,
Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka said in a Women’s Day message.
The full text: “The sense of motherhood takes a prominent position in
the Sri Lankan society nurtured by Buddhist philosophy.
“The mutual bond between parents and children is greatly supported by
the mother’s role.
“The unique role played by mothers in moulding children to be
virtuous should be highly appreciated. “It is women who suffered the
worst during the three decade war by sending their husbands and children
to the warfront.
If not for their selfless dedication, the country’s unitary nature
would have been a mere dream.
“Despite all these, we also hear of unpleasant happenings unleashed
on women which is very tragic.
“Therefore, on International Women’s Day, let us resolve to create
an-exemplary society which gives due respect to women.
“I also wish the national celebration titled Saubagya Dasakaye
Kaantha Dayakathwaya organized by the Childcare and Women Empowerment
Ministry, a great success. |
