Movies for Women's Day
Zonta Club II of Colombo will partner the International Centre for
Ethnic Studies (ICES) to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8
by hosting a film

festival at the ICES Auditorium, Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8, from
March 8 to10.
The films which will be screened have been critically acclaimed as
being powerful depictions of the strong role played by today's women in
their communities, be it East or West.
On March 8, an interactive panel discussion leading to a vibrant open
discussion on the theme, 'Equal Opportunities: Equal Partnerships,
Impossible?' will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The panel discussion
aims at creating an epidemic that will inspire people to actively work
towards equality of opportunity for women, in the workplace, home and in
society.
Panelists are LOWE LDB Advertising CEO Lilamani Dias Benson, NDB Bank
CEO Eran Wickremaratne, ICES Director Chandra Jayaratne and Colombo
Medical Faculty Prof. Chandrika Wijeratne.

The discussion will be followed by the screening of the film Under
the Bombs at 6.30 p.m. Konkana Sen Sharma starer Amu will be screened on
March 9 at 3 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. while Vera Drake, a compelling
dramatization of social issues set in post war London, will be screened
on March 10 at 3 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. Entrance free. |
