Ceylinco Insurance profits up

Ceylinco Insurance recorded impressive results for 2009.

Ajith Gunawardena

During the year, Ceylinco Insurance recorded a premium income of Rs 16.6 billion out of which the General Division contributed Rs 9.1 billion whilst Life Division contributed the balance Rs 7.5 billion Jt Deputy Chairman, Ajith Gunawardena said.

The company made an exceptional pre-tax profit of Rs 939.6 million for the year ended December 31, 2009 indicating a 28 percent increase compared to previous year.

The General Division contributed Rs 352 million.

This can be considered a remarkable achievement in all aspects given the unprecedented and unfavourable level of activities.

"The company's innovative and practical cost saving methods were applied in a manner that reflected significantly on the profit. Having operated in an environment of economic turbulence and otherwise unstable conditions, these results can be called truly outstanding," Gunawardena said.
