National Healthcare exhibition

The National Healthcare Exhibition 2010, organized by the Western Provincial Council health department under the patronage of the Health Ministry, will be held from March 5 to 7 at the BMICH.

The objective of the exhibition is to foster a healthier nation with a sound knowledge about health and its related problems. This will create awareness amongst the public to face new challenges in personal health, a Health Department spokesman told the Daily News.

He said the public will encouraged to be exposed to modern medical trends, new equipment and technology. They will also be educated to select appropriate pharmaceutical and allied products.

MICH Meelad-un-Nabi celebration

Suspended sentence for former unp councillor

Former UNP Councillor Sujith Deshapriya Cooray who pleaded guilty to assaulting his father, former UNP State Minister Mervyn J. Cooray, was imposed six months imprisonment suspended for five years by Panadura Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake.

The accused was produced before court yesterday by prison officials for identification and sentenced by the Magistrate. The case was filed by the Wadduwa police. Mervyn J. Cooray told court that he was in Panadura Base Hospital for seven days after being assaulted.


Request for a kidney

K.V. Thanuja Chaminda(28) of No. 20/4, Thalapathpitiya Rd, Udahamulla, Nugegoda is afflicted by end stage renal disease and he needs to undergo a Renal Transplant as a definitive treatment. He is in need of a kidney transplant and he is looking for a kidney donor. His blood group is B positive.


Lecture, discussion on Diabetes and Oral Health
