People indicated key person in crushing terrorism -Anunayake Thera

By ensuring a resounding victory for President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the recently concluded Presidential election, the people had indicated the key person responsible for wiping out terrorism from this country in no uncertain terms, said Most Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Anunayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter.

The prelate said so presiding over a ceremony held at the Kandy postal auditorium to mark the launching of Plantation Industries Minister D. M. Jayaratne’s book Atheetha Mathaka recently. Ven. Vijithasiri Annunayake Thera said the President gave the correct leadership in the war against terrorists with the blessings and support of the Maha Sangha and the masses of this country.

The Maha Sangha silently branched out to the villages and offered counsel to the people to exercise their ballot wisely in the same vein they offered their advice during the fight against terrorism.

He said the people have responsibility to ensure that the victories gained are safeguarded and carried forward to ensure national development in the future. Ven. Vijithasiri Thera said Minister Jayaratne’s book Atheetha Mathaka is a valuable creation which offered insights to people’s representatives on their duties and responsibilities.

Minister Jayaratne said he had included both his plus and minus points in life in his book.

He wished that readers would take a leaf from the plus points to better their future lives.

Senior Lecturer Attanayake M. Herath delivered the keynote address. Ven. Kiribathkumbure Seevali Thera delivered an anusasane.
