Cricketers’ Nite 2010 at Nalanda

Nalanda College, Colombo will hold the Cricketers’ Nite 2010 at the SSC Main Pavilion on March 1. All Past Cricketers and well-wishers are invited to grace the occasion. Mahela Jayawardena would be recognized for his contribution to Sri Lanka Cricket as the most successful Test captain.

H.U. Premathilake, the Principal of the Nalanda College too will be felicitated for his 10 years service to Nalanda and his assumption of duties as the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education. Super League commences

The Super League stage of the ‘Munchee’ Trophy Volleyball Championship began yesterday and five matches were completed at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

The other matches are scheduled to be played on February 26, 27 and March 01 and 02 at the same venue while the final is scheduled for March 13.

Yesterday’s results are as follows: Sri Lanka Navy beat Sri Lanka Railway, Sri Lanka Ports Authority beat Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force beat Sri Lanka Police, Super Six SC, Mawaramandiya beat Senanayake SC Madampe and Sri Lanka Railways beat Sri Lanka Army.


Sri Rahula on top

Sri Rahula College, Katugastota were on top at the end of the first day’s play in their inter-school cricket match against Sri Devananda College, Ambalangoda which began at the University grounds, Peradeniya yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.

Sri Rahula College were put into this strong position by their skipper and left arm spinner Amith Tillekaratne who took 5 for 42 and also scored 55 not out with 5 fours.

Sri Devananda Vidyalaya 144 all out in 47.5 overs (N. Theekshana 28, P. Saranga 22, I. Shabeetha 16, D. Sinman 12, Amith Tillekeratne 5 for 42, Roshan Subasinghe 2 for 27, Sunimal Dissanayake 2 for 45).

Sri Rahula College 141 for 4 in 45 overs (Sadun Dilhan 25, Pradeep Priyadharshana 34, Gihan Viduranga 18, Amith Tillekeratne 55 not out).
