Dhammika Guneratne Memorial TT on March 20, 21
The Dhammika Guneratne Memorial open table tennis tournament for the
Daintee – Milady Challenge Trophy being conducted by the Old Sokians
Sports Club and sponsored by Daintee Limited will be held on March 20
and 21, 2010 at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium in Mount Lavinia.

Dhammika Gunaratne was an old boy of the Dharmasoka College,
Ambalangoda and was a talented sportsman in the school. He was the
Junior Champion and the runner-up at the 1962 Junior National Table
Tennis Championship.
He also represented Sri Lanka at the 25th Silver Jubilee Table Tennis
tournament held in New Delhi in 1964. From 1964 to 1974 He represented
and held the post of captain of table tennis team of the Peradeniya
University and also won the University Colours for Table Tennis,
Badminton and Basketball.
That are conducting this tournament for Under 10, 12, 15, 18 and 21
men’s and women’s age groups and those over 40 years and an open event.
Daintee Limited has come forward to sponsor many social and sports
events and the aim of the Daintee – Milady Challenge Trophy tournament
is to popularize table tennis in the remote areas as well.
The final date of applications for the event is March 5, 2010 and the
draw is scheduled for March 11, 2010 at the Otters club, Sarana Mawatha,
off Buddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo. Sarath Guneratne, the President of the
