‘Two-thirds majority easy task’

Obtaining a two-thirds majority at the General Election is a
comfortable task for the UPFA in terms of the mandate received at the
last Presidential Election, Local Government and Provincial Councils
Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon said.
There will be no room for Opposition efforts aimed at turning back
the tide of the above victory at the General Election, he added.
He was addressing massive crowd at a ceremony organized to mark the
commissioning of Electricity Supply Schemes launched with on investment
of Rs. 13.2 million in the the villages of Ihala Diggala and Pahala
Diggala of Galewela Pradeshiya Sabha recently.
Minister Tennakoon said that the Government is keen to go for
constitutional amendments after receiving a two-thirds majority.
Referring to the delay of the project completion, he said it is true
there was a delay in obtaining required funds from Sweden. The JVP had
taken this opportunity to mislead the village people and organized a
protest campaign against the authorities.
“This is a genuine proposal. Today the dream of the residents in the
two villages has come true,” he said.
Central Provincial Councillor Pramith Bandara Tennakoon and Galewela
Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman M.P.R. Jayathilaka also spoke.
