Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe promises:

Clean, exemplary polls campaign

Kalutara district UPFA candidate and Disaster Relief Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe who handed in his nomination papers at the Kalutara District Secretariat on Thursday, pledged to conduct a clean and exemplary election campaign in keeping with the election laws stipulated by the Commissioner General of Elections.


UPFA Kalutara District candidate and Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe acknowledging the greetings of his supporters as he proceeded to the Kalutara Bodhi in a motorcade after handing over nominations at the Kalutara District Secretariat on Thursday.

He said he would also dedicate himself for national development and progress and welfare of the people of Sri Lanka as a whole.

The Minister made this pledge before the Maha Sangha and his supporters after arriving in a procession at the Kalutara Bodhi with his supporters for special religious observances.

He said he has always engaged in principled politics during his entire political career spanning 23 years.

Samarasinghe said he would also pay special attention to youth in the area by soliciting their co-operation towards his campaign and giving them added responsibilities. Although many of his cut-outs and banners had been destroyed by his opponents, the Minister said he would never try to take revenge on them or resort to such destructive tactics.

Provincial Council Members Piyal Nishantha de Silva and Sumith Lal Mendis were among the large crowd present.
