ASG sworn as President's Counsel
Additional Solicitor General Lawrence Marcel Kumaran Arulanandam was
sworn as President's Counsel at a ceremonial sitting yesterday.
Acting Chief Justice Dr. Shirani A Bandaranayake presided.
His wife, High Court Judge P.R. Walgama participated in this
ceremonial as a Judge of the High Court.
President's Counsel Arulanandam was called to the Bar on August 21,
1979.
He joined the Attorney General's Department on February 1, 1983 as
acting State Counsel and was promoted to the post of Senior State
Counsel on February 22, 1996.
He was appointed as Deputy Solicitor General with effect from October
15, 1999 and elevated to the post of Additional Solicitor General from
October 31, 2008.
He holds the Postgraduate Degree of Master of Laws from the Colombo
University.
He is one of the few officers who has worked both in the criminal and
civil side as well.
He is the Head of the District Court Unit. |
