Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama
who as the district leader handed over the nominations of the UPFA group
contesting the Kandy district said the people would re-endorse their
Presidential election verdict by giving the UPFA a big majority of seats
at the general election. He said that concurrent to the ongoing massive
development projects a national program to provide job opportunities to
youth would be implemented soon. Youth in the Kandy district would also
gain prominence under this program.
He said his group would conduct a peaceful election campaign
according to principled politics.
Foreign agents will never be allowed to undermine the national
development program launched by President Mahinda Rajapaksa said Foreign
Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister and Kandy District UPFA
candidate Keheliya Rambukwella when he addressed the media after the
handing over of nomination papers at the Kandy District Secretariat
yesterday.
Rambukwella said western powers should remember that Sri Lanka was no
more a colony of the west.
He said the President as the head of state would never allow any
outside force to threaten or challenge the country's sovereignty.
UPFA candidate and Tourism Promotion Minister Faizer Mustapha said
Muslim representation in Parliament from the SLFP had been insignificant
for the last 40 years. This situation would change for the better at
this forthcoming general election. |
