Govt targets cheaper electricity

President Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking at the opening of the multi fuel combined cycle power plant at Kerawalapitiya yesterday said that the Government will focus on how the consumers are to be relieved from the burden of higher electricity bills soon.

Navy brings released fishermen safely home

The Sri Lanka Navy brought 22 Sri Lankan fishermen safely home after their release from Indian custody on Wednesday. The fishermen and four fishing vessels were handed over to SLN officials by Indian Coast Guard Ship Kittur Chenamma at the Indo-Sri Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the seas north of Kankesanthurai.

Etisalat has recognized Sri Lanka as a potential market in Asia:

Tigo becomes etisalat

The United Arab Emirate’s telecom giant, Etisalat launched operations in Sri Lanka with the takeover of Tigo which was Celltel earlier. Telecommunications has become a major factor in development to which Sri Lanka is heading and Etisalat will cater to customer oriented needs.
