Dias wins Coomaraswamy medal

The Geological Society of Sri Lanka has awarded the Ananda Coomaraswamy Medal - 2009 to D. Priyalal Dias.

The medal is being awarded in recognition of the remarkable services that have been rendered by him towards the advancement of geological sciences and understanding of the geology of Sri Lanka.

The presentation will take place at a special ceremony on February 26 at the annual sessions of the Society at 10.40 a.m. in the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 07. Secretary /GSSL Dr. N. P. Ratnayake said. Dias is the President of the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya - Colombo Chapter.

He is the Chairman of Foundation and Waterwell Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, which is a Geotechnical Company.
