NFF condemns British support to pro-LTTE movement

The National Freedom Front (NFF) yesterday vehemently condemned the
British Government's support to a pro-LTTE separatist movement active in
western countries working to divide the country.
Under the theme 'What is the provision for a separate country within
Sri Lanka', British Foreign Minister David Miliband had delivered a
lecture as a special invitee to the conference.
What has David Miliband done to the country by participating this
conference? Nothing but irreparable damage to the country's sovereignty
and territorial integrity, a NFF media release stated.
It is evident that the Sri Lankan Government's effort to vanquish the
three decade LTTE terrorism and set up a unitary State has been
undermined and a conspiracy is under way by western imperialism to push
the country towards LTTE terrorism again, the release stated.
The release added: "After being freed from colonial slavery, many
attempts have been made by western imperialists to bring back the
country under their yoke. The main strategy they revised to carry out
this sinister plan was to put the country under slavery and create
antagonism among the communities and push the country towards
separatism. "But by now, we as a nation have come forward and defeated
these separatist agendas and annihilated the hired guns of the LTTE
forever. It is worthy to note that they are now incensed with the
initiative of the government to ignore their voice and destroyed all
their agents.
They are now struggling to resurrect the dying LTTE movement and to
take its mission forward in the guise of democracy, good governance and
human rights. It is clear that those forces were active in the last
Presidential election. But the patriotic forces prevented all these
efforts in the teeth of many pressure.
The time has again come for the patriotic and intelligent people to
defeat attempts being undertaken to fulfill the dream of the separatists
with British Foreign Minister taking steps to revive the separatist
dream." |
