England call up Kieswetter

England called South Africa-born Craig Kieswetter into their one-day squad for the tour of Bangladesh on Saturday.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kieswetter, born in Johannesburg, has earned his call-up after impressing for England Lions during their recent trip to the United Arab Emirates.

Kieswetter hit scores of 40, 77 and 50 in the Twenty20 matches against Pakistan A and also notched up a dominant 81 when the Lions defeated England’s senior stars in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Somerset player has been tipped for full international honours, but South Africa captain Graeme Smith hoped it would be for his country.

Like his new England team-mate Jonathan Trott, Kieswetter represented South Africa at the Under-19 World Cup before moving to England. England play three one-day internationals against Bangladesh before a two-match Test series.
