Securing two thirds easy for UPFA

During the last Presidential Election, the UNP was razed to the ground while the JVP was fully routed to the zero level. In this backdrop, it is very easy for the UPFA to secure a two thirds majority at the forthcoming Parliamentary Election, Power Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said.

Speaking at a Yatinuwara electorate SLFP activists’ meeting held at the CPC Governor’s office auditorium on Saturday, Minister Aluthgamage said the people had brought down in order the Senior SLFP’ers in place of the JVP candidates in the Preferential vote at the General Election in 2004 and added that these very JVPers had finally done the greatest betrayal by supporting Sarath Fonseka at the Presidential Election.

If Sarath Fonseka had by any chance won the Presidential Election, we would not be alive today.

This time the people thought of the country first. They gave second thought to their stomachs.

The President has won the first challenge of eliminating terrorism from this soil.

The second challenge is to rebuild the country after obtaining a two thirds majority in Parliament.
