Three TNA members to contest under UPFA

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) members Ganeshamoorthi Gunam (Kaludavalai), Thangeswari Kadirgaman and Ramesh are to contest under the UPFA. Another candidate’s name will be announced shortly, sources said.

Former TNA Parliamentarian Thangeswari Kadirgaman said it had been reported that she had been removed from the party.

“It was a one-sided decision. Anybody could say anything but that should not be trusted.” She added that TNA leader Sambandan should have discussed this with her before his decision. Thangeswari said she had to find an alternative way.

Meanwhile, the Upcountry People’s Front (UPF) has decided to contest separately in Nuwara Eliya and Badulla Districts and with the UPFA in other areas. UPF Secretary S. Wijekumaran said the Political Bureau met on Friday and took this decision.

UPF’s former Parliamentarian and Deputy Minister P. Radhakrishnan would contest under the UPFA in the Colombo District.
