Illicit brewery raided

The Walana Anti-Vice Squad conducted a raid on an illicit brewery at North Kammala in Waikkala area in the Wennappuwa police division on Saturday and seized 90 barrels containing 1,080,500 drams of goda and arrested two suspects who are residents of Dematagoda Rail Road, Colombo. The suspects, seized brew and the implements used in the illicit trade will be produced before Marawila Magistrates Court.

Meanwhile, Avissawella Police arrested a suspect who was involved in a house breaking incident at Pragathipura, Puwakpitiya area and received the money and jewellery from the suspect last Friday.

The suspect was to be produced before Avissawella Magistrate yesterday.
