The Premier was speaking at a computer unit opening ceremony at the Millewa Subharathi Junior College in Horana.

The Prime Minister also stated the Cabinet approval has already been granted to recruit the Dharmacharya holders as school teachers.

He said there was a program to recruit the Dharmacharya holders to teach computer technology to students at schools where there were no teachers to teach the subject. Explaining the reason to recruit Dharmacharya holders to teach Computer Technology to school students, Prime Minister Wickramanayaka said although Europe has achieved great strides in technology their moral values have deteriorated. "We have to provide the younger generation with advance technology while maintaining the moral values, customs and culture preserved for generations," he said.

The Prime Minister requested all those who love the motherland to join the development drive under the Government.

He also stated that the private sector should think of the country always and warned them the Government was ready to intervene with their affairs if the private sector acted irresponsibly.

The Millewa Subharathi Junior College received the computer unit under the project to develop the schools which are on the verge of closure.

Western Provincial Councillor Vidura Wickramanayaka also spoke.
