BOI ventures to develop garment export industry
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka granted investment approval to
Trendywear Adhikarigama (Private) Limited and Interfashion (Private)
Limited to commence operations under BOI.

An investment agreement worth Rs 315 million was signed with
Trendywear Adhikarigama Limited. The investment sponsored by Trendywear
Limited will manufacture ladies high fashion garments for the export
market. The company expects to operate with a 120,000 production
capacity per month and will export their products to the US and UK
markets. The company located at Adhikarigama will provide initial
employment for a workforce of 1,000 which is expected to be increased up
to 1,500.
Trendywear Limited already operates four other garment manufacturing
ventures providing employment for a workforce of 3,000.
Chairperson/Managing Director Ramya Weerakoon and Mahika Weerakoon,
Director signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
An investment agreement worth Rs 35 million was signed with
Interfashion Limited.
The investment sponsored by Banke Textile Asia, Hong Kong will
manufacture high value ladies formal wear for Marks and Spencer and
Tesco.
The company expects to operate with a 60,000 production capacity per
month.
The production facility located at Nuwara Eliya will provide initial
employment for a workforce of 250 which is expected to be increased up
to 1,200.
Directors of Interfashion Ron Anderson, Stephen Hall and Piyawansa
Deshapriya signed the agreement on behalf of the company. |
