Nine killed, 45 injured in bomb attack in India

At least nine people, four of them female foreigners, were killed when a powerful bomb exploded in a terrorist attack on a restaurant popular with tourists in the western Indian city of Pune on Saturday evening, police said.

Cause for concern
* First major terrorist attack after Mumbai attack

* Over 45 rushed to hospital

*Foreigners among killed

This is the first major terror attack in India since the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, said officials.

It took place as India and Pakistan were preparing to resume talks on February 25 in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, more than 45 people were rushed to hospital with varying degrees of injury in the attack caused by a home-made improvised explosive device, said Indian security officials.
