UNP, JVP have nothing substantial for people

With the collapse of the UNP electoral base, the JVP too suffered the worst to the zero level at the presidential election held recently. In this backdrop, both these parties have nothing substantial to tell to the people at the forthcoming General Election. Therefore, they now charge that the President is a dictator to enable them go before the people, Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said. Minister Alahapperuma made this revelation as chief guest after opening the new super market at Dikwella constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 million recently.

The JVP tried to launch a massive blood bath in the country in the company of Sarath Fonseka. There were plans underway to assassinate SLFP activists in case Fonseka won the Presidential Election.

If ever certain people among us went astray even for a moment, the time has come for them to rejoin us under one banner. Therefore, I invite all of them to forget their petty considerations of party or colour and come forward to join in our progressive journey, the Minister said. “I also invite to create a new parliament which consists of members who love the country, village, state property, environment and above all the people.

Today, we have a strong base to rebuild a state with focus on development in the country. What is virtually needed at the moment is a strong parliament to ensure the systematic and speedy development of the country, he said.

“I am also glad that one of your dreams has realised today. Former Ministers Ronnie de Mel and H. R. Piyasiri too played significant roles in developing this town. Also Madulal Weerasinghe donated his land for the bus stand, the Minister recalled.
