Indika Polkotuwa
Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Keheliya
Rambukwella, said at a SLFP - Yatinuwara branch organisers meeting in
Kandy recently, that the government would get the two thirds majority at
the forthcoming Parliament election and change the present Constitution
to make way for a people friendly Constitution for the country.
The Minister said that the present Constitution of J. R. Jayewardene
had created several crises and added the need had arisen to change it
for the betterment of the people in the country.
Though terrorism is no more in this country, certain elements of
divisive forces are still active here. The way this terrorism and
divisive elements suffered at the Presidential election, these divisive
forces will be totally wiped out of this country at the forthcoming
General Election.
We have now ended the nightmarish days in the country with the
elimination of terrorism. Today we can think and live with the hope of a
better tomorrow in the country.
For the past three decades, we were bad losers not only before
Prabakaran, but also before the entire world.
This hill country is highly significant in its historic past. I will
make every effort to maintain this grandeur in all ways. I have already
drawn up a plan to initiate a 1.2 billion dollar foreign investment in
this district.
Central Provincial Councillors A. G. Sirisena, Goonathilake Rajapakse,
Yatinuwara former SLFP organiser D. Karunaratne Kadugannawa, Urban
Council Opposition leader Sisira Abeywickrema and Councillor Dhanapala
Heenatigala also addressed the occasion. |
