Over Rs 2m revenue as fines

The Government had collected Rs. 2,275,100 as fines from Court cases. The cases have been produced by the Vice Branch of Maharagama Police from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009.

The biggest amount collected as fines from illicit alcohol (Kasippu) cases Rs. 492,100.

Heroine, Ganja, Selling cigarettes to children under 21 years of age, unlicensed payment business, selling Petrol without licence, smoking and consuming alcohol in the public, and using unsealed weights and measures are the other offences reported at Courts.
