* Loan schemes will be rescheduled

* Value added prod ucts are encouraged in fisheries sector

He said the SME apparel sector has recovered by 7 percent and it is necessary to make the industry more productive through new technologies now.

The loan schemes will be rescheduled and energy cost has to be reduced through solar power projects. He said the end of war also impacted largely on certain sectors such as tourism and tourism related industries.

An additional 5,000 rooms are required to meet the demand of the tourism industry.

“The fisheries industry also will have new opportunities to provide fresh prawns and crabs for tourists. Value added products are encouraged rather than supplying fish products in raw form,” he said.

However the demand for gems has gone down but tea industry remains as the second highest export.
