Magistrate gets tough on repeated traffic offenders

Panadura Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake said no sympathy will be shown
to errant drivers who repeated the offences of driving motor vehicles
under the influence of liquor.
The Magistrate sentenced a three-wheeler driver to two months
imprisonment and suspended his driving licence for six months.
The driver H. Sugath Fernando of Walana, Panadura was produced before
Court by Panadura North Traffic Police with a charge sheet.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of driving a three-wheeler on the Galle
Road whilst under the influence of liquor.
In a previous occasion, he was fined Rs. 7,500 by the Magistrate,
Police told Court.
